In the early 80s, a trend started in film for what is called “The Slasher Film.” Basically, unstoppable insane maniac, usually in a mask, kills a bunch of teens with a sharp object, only to be overtaken by the “final girl.” They made a lot of money and they were cheap to produce. However, as a result, you got a lot of dumb entries in the genre.
